ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont woman has pleaded guilty to the 2012 choking death of a prep school teacher.
Patricia Prue pleaded guilty to aggravated murder in the death of St. Johnsbury Academy teacher Melissa Jenkins. Prue's husband, Allen Prue, is serving a life sentence for murder. And police say he told them he and his wife wanted "to get a girl."
Prosecutors say the Prues lured the 32-year-old single mother from her home March 25, 2012, with a ruse about a broken down car, strangled her and dumped her body in the Connecticut River. Jenkins was reported missing after her vehicle was found that day idling on a road with her 2-year-old son inside. Her body was found the next day.
Prue is to be sentenced Friday. She faces life in prison.
