Suspect Arrested After Deadly Shooting Spree Leaves 1 Dead, 5 Wounded In Arizona

Authorities have reportedly arrested the suspect in a Mesa, Arizona shooting spree that left one dead and five wounded on Wednesday.

Police sources granted anonymity identified the suspect as Ryan Giroux, 41, according to the Arizona Republic.

But at a news conference, police declined to confirm or deny that Giroux was the suspect.

The spree included a shooting at a motel, a carjacking and a home invasion at a nearby apartment complex.

The incident started with an argument inside a room at a motel and spilled outside, and three people were wounded there, Flores said. The suspect then shot a person at a nearby restaurant and carjacked a gray Honda Accord. Two more people were wounded at separate apartment complexes, including one during a home invasion.

The shootings happened near the East Valley Institute of Technology and the adjacent Mesa Community College was put on lockdown.

"Right now, our hearts and prayers are with the people of Mesa, the individuals affected by this tragedy, and all law enforcement and first responders working to assist the victims," Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey said.
