The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.

Milledgeville Police Department

Marijuana Possession

An officer was patrolling the area of East Hancock Street shortly before 10:30 p.m. March 18 when a vehicle was seen driving without headlights. The officer stopped the vehicle in the parking lot of Golden Pantry and approached the driver’s door, where a “strong” odor of marijuana was detected coming from inside the vehicle. The driver said he had hid the marijuana under his passenger’s seat when he saw the blue lights flash behind him, but had stuck the bag too far underneath the seat to retrieve it. After securing the bag from underneath the seat, the officer arrested the man and charged him with possession of marijuana (less than 1 oz.).

Multiple Offenses

An officer was patrolling the area of East Hancock Street shortly after 1:30 a.m. March 19 when a vehicle was seen having trouble maintaining its lane of travel. The officer then activated the vehicle’s patrol lights and attempted to pull the car over, and witnessed what appeared to be the driver shoving something down the front of his pants before bringing the car to a full stop. After turning on the vehicle’s siren and succeeding in getting the driver to stop his car, the officer walked to the vehicle’s driver window and noticed a smell of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. After having the driver exit the vehicle and calling another officer for assistance, the officer searched the vehicle and uncovered a 9mm pistol, three cellphones, a small bag of marijuana, and a bag containing Ecstacy pills (a Schedule I drug). The officer arrested the man for possession of a schedule I narcotic, possession of marijuana (less than 1 oz.), possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and failure to maintain lane.
