A map of reported violent crimes in each of the New Orleans Police Department's eight police districts is now available online at NOLA.com. The map, updated several times a day, uses NOPD data for crimes reported each month since Jan. 1.

For each police district, readers can find the block address, time and other information on individual incidents in four violent crime categories reported to NOPD: homicides, aggravated batteries - which includes nonfatal shootings - armed robberies/home invasions and sexual assaults/batteries. Color-coded to match the corresponding crime category, each dot on the map contains the data of the reported crime, including when NOPD received the call and when a police officer arrived on scene.
Check or uncheck the tab for each crime category to view crimes in one or more categories for each district, each month. Use the drop-down menu to toggle between districts and between months. A year-to-date tally is available in the tab for each crime category.
The map uses data from NOPD's calls for service, published online. Data posted on the city's website represent preliminary service calls, and can be changed and altered by NOPD up to 36 hours after the incident is reported. Some incidents involving juveniles are not included in call logs, per state law.
The district-wide crime map expands upon NOLA.com's map of murders reported in New Orleans.
