A 22-year-old man was arrested in connection with a sex crime after the victim said the two met over the weekend while she was in town for the Carolina Country Music Festival, according to a Myrtle Beach police report.
Brian Allen Emery is charged in connection with first-degree criminal sexual conduct, online jail records show.
Police were first called about the alleged incident on Sunday evening to a hotel on the 700 block of South Ocean Boulevard where the victim, whose age was not listed, reported the incident after a friend she was with contacted authorities, the report states.
The victim told officers that she traveled to Myrtle Beach for the Carolina Country Music Festival - a four-day, concert series event that ran from Thursday through Sunday. She said she met Emery on the beach, had been spending time with him through the weekend, and didn’t know him prior to that, police said.
The alleged assault happened Sunday night in a hotel room, the report says. The victim went to the hospital and completed a criminal sexual assault exam, authorities said.
When the victim was being dropped off back at the hotel by police, Emery returned there and was placed under arrest, the report states.
Emery is being held at the Myrtle Beach Jail where his bond had not been set as of Tuesday morning, records show.
