An 18-year-old was arrested for allegedly stealing his neighbor's boat, among other crimes, in the Mobile Police Department's overnight crime report.
The report begins on Thursday (June 8) at approximately 6:00 a.m., officers responded to the 2900 block of Gulf Dale court in reference to a theft complaint. The victim stated that his Jon boat had been stolen from his back yard.
The victim told officers that he had seen his boat in the neighborhood at another residence. Officers went to the 1800 block of Gulf Dale Drive and spoke with the home owner.
Officers detained 18-year-old Dylan Snider and transported him to the precinct for questioning. Snider was later arrested and transported to Mobile County Metro Jail.
Snider was charged with first-degree theft of property.
Later that morning at approximately 11:00 a.m., officers responded to the Baymont Inn located at 5634 Tillman's Corner Parkway in reference to a robbery to an individual.
The victim told police that he was robbed by a known male suspect at gunpoint. The victim said the suspect took his money, cellular phone and then left the area.
The incident has been classified as first-degree robbery.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., officers responded to the DB Discount in reference to one male shot.
When police arrived they observed that the victim had been shot once in the lower thigh. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The victim told police that he and the known suspect were friends. The pair got into an argument over drugs. The victim said when they walked behind the store, the suspect shot him in the leg. The victim told police he did not want to pursue charges against the suspect.
The incident was classified as second-degree assault.
On Friday (June 9) at 12:00 a.m. police were able to make an arrest for a third-degree burglary incident that occurred May 8.
Officers were in the area of Theodore Dawes Road and Interstate 10 and conducted a traffic stop. The driver 30-year-old Derrick Johnson was found to have an active warrant for receiving stolen property.
Police the warrant stemmed from a May 8 incident took place at approximately 8:48 p.m.
Officers responded to the Circle T Tires located at 5915 Hwy 90 in reference to stolen property. When officers spoke with employees they said that an unknown male suspect asked them if they wanted to purchase a generator.
The suspect left, but returned shortly with a generator. When questioned about the generator by employees the suspect got nervous and left without the generator.
Later that same night officers responded to Anderson Associates located at 3715 Lakeside Drive South. They observed that the business had been broken into. At the time the victim said they were unsure of who may have broken into the business. Officers were able to determine that the generator belonged to the business and returned the property.
On Friday (June 9) Johnson was transported to a local precinct and questioned about the incident. He was later arrested and transported to Mobile County Metro Jail.
At approximately 1:00 a.m. on Friday officers responded to the Circle K located at 8130 Cottage Hill Road in reference to a commercial robbery. The victim stated that an unknown male suspect came into the business armed with a handgun and demanded him to open the register.
The victim complied and the suspect removed the money from the register and left the location.
The incident was classified as first-degree robbery.
At approximately 2:08 a.m., officers responded to the 1600 block of Lakewood drive in reference to a suspicious activity complaint. Officers observed a vehicle being driven without the headlights on.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and the vehicle refused to stop.
The two occupants exited the vehicle and ran on foot in the 1700 block of Harris Road. Officers apprehended one of the suspects, 18-year-old Willie Ervin in the 1700 block of Northvieww Drive.
Ervin was arrested and transported to Mobile County Metro Jail.
Ervin was charged with possession of a controlled substance, second-degree possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of attempting to elude police officers.
