The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.

Milledgeville Police Department

Burglary

An officer met with a man at his Coventry Court residence shortly after 10 p.m. July 7 in reference to a burglary. The man said he and his family had been on vacation for nearly two months and returned home that day to find several pieces of jewelry and electronics missing. He said the house was equipped with an alarm system, but that he had not gotten any alerts that the house had been broken into. The officer noticed that a glass door leading to the house’s back porch had been shattered.

Theft by Shoplifting

An officer met with an attendant at a South Wayne Street gas station shortly before 1 a.m. July 10 in reference to a shoplifting. The attendant said a man had walked in with a plastic bag a few minutes before and had turned his back to her while standing in the candy aisle. She said when the man turned around his bag appeared to be fuller than when he had walked in, but that he left the store without paying for any items. When she walked over to the place where the man was standing, she noticed 24 Snickers bars valued at $1.99 apiece missing from the aisle. The officer searched the surrounding area for anyone matching the suspect’s description, but was unsuccessful.
