The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.

Milledgeville Police Department

Theft by Taking

An officer met with a college student in the police department lobby shortly before 7 p.m. July 12 in reference to a theft from her apartment. The student said she had been sitting inside her College Station apartment earlier that evening when two men opened her apartment door with a key and came inside. She said the men told her that they worked for the complex and were there to take measurements of her shower. When the two men finished their measurements and left the apartment, the student noticed $60 in cash missing from a jar on her coffee table. The officer took a written statement from the victim and gave her a case card with the incident’s report number.

Theft by Deception

An officer met with a man at his Verndale Drive residence shortly after 5 p.m. July 12 in reference to a fraud. The man said he had sent $2,900 via text message to a person that was supposedly selling a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GSR, but had not heard back from the seller and feared that the person had taken his money. He said he had called his money transfer provider and was told the code he was given was invalid, and he wished to file a report with the MPD.
