The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.
Milledgeville Police Department
Fraud
Dispatchers received a call from a Texas man shortly before noon July 19 in reference to someone using his identity. The man said he had received a payment book from Volume Hyundai in the mail, but had not purchased a car from the location. The officer travelled to the dealership to gather information about the person that had purchased the car, and was told that a person pretending to be the victim co-signed on a loan with the victim’s information. Employees said that the suspect had since brought the vehicle back to the lot, and the officer called the victim and informed him he would not be responsible for the payment.
Burglary
An officer met with a man at his East Screven Street residence shortly after 3 p.m. July 19 in reference to a burglary. The man said he and his girlfriend had left the residence that morning and returned to find the house ransacked. He said someone had gone through multiple bags and drawers and stolen a concert ticket valued at $57, as well as other miscellaneous items. The officer noticed a bar stool and a bucket that had been stacked on top of each other outside a bathroom window, and the victims said they had not left the two items together before leaving the house. The man said that his roommate’s room had been gone through as well, and promised to have the roommate call the MPD if he noticed any missing items.
