Regarding the attack on two tourists in the French Quarter, as was stated in the report, 50 police officers were in the area during the time of the attack. Does this not prove that police, no matter how many, cannot prevent crime? Police do not deter crime. Good parenting, by and large, deters crime.
More of our city budget needs to go to early childhood education. I not only refer to children receiving good education early on, but parents receiving education on how to properly raise children who become law-abiding citizens. Additionally, I would like to suggest one thing people might consider changing. That is, when a person is shot and killed in a public setting, please remove children from watching the goings-on at the scene of the crime. Really, should children be privy to that sort of thing?
