Police conduct major crime-busting operation - Citizens Voice

WILKES-BARRE — Law enforcement agencies conducted a “significant operation” to fight crime in the Greater Wilkes-Barre area Friday night into Saturday morning, according to state police.

Operation Triggerlock-Phase II resulted in 12 arrests for drug-related offenses, state police said. Also, 11 people were arrested on outstanding warrants, while police arrested nine people for DUI and two for fleeing and eluding police.

Officers also conducted a neighborhood “walk and talk” through designated high-crime areas within Wilkes-Barre, designed to advise residents of law enforcement presence and efforts being made to curtail crime, police said.

Participating agencies included state police, the FBI, the state Attorney General’s Office, the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office and Sheriff’s Department, and police from Wilkes-Barre, Kingston, Hanover Twp., Edwardsville, Pittston and Plymouth.

Police conducted the first phase of Operation Triggerlock last month.
