Police are searching for a "large group of people" who allegedly assaulted two men in Bedford-Stuyvesant early Saturday morning after hurling anti-gay slurs at them.
While waiting for two friends to order food at Crown Fried Chicken, one 27-year-old man was assaulted and suffered a fractured jaw, police said, and a second victim, who was inside the restaurant, was punched in the lip.
Throughout the assault, the group outside continued to make homophobic statements about the two men, according to police.
Cops responded to the incident on Fulton Street near Franklin Avenue at 4 a.m. on Saturday morning, a police spokesperson said. The 27-year-old victim was transported to a local hospital and will likely need surgery.
An investigation by the NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is ongoing. A call to Crown Fried Chicken was not returned. Earlier this year, two men were allegedly slashed at the same establishment by an assailant yelling anti-gay slurs.
