Two McGregor area residents were arrested early Wednesday evening on drug and weapons charges. Shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16, Aitkin County deputies assisted the Minnesota Department of Corrections Intensive Supervision Agents with the check of a residence in rural McGregor. Inside the residence deputies observed evidence of drugs.
A search warrant was obtained and executed on the residence where over 102 grams of methamphetamine was located. Also found during the search were three handguns, four rifles, gun parts and a large amount of ammunition.
The occupants of the residence, Brandy Lynn Chouinard, 34, and Bradley Mikal Leritz, 35, both of McGregor, were arrested and booked into the Aitkin County Jail.
The Aitkin County Attorney’s Office filed criminal complaints charging Chouinard with two counts of felony controlled substance crime first degree – 50 grams or more; two counts of felony felon in possession of firearm – crime of violence conviction; two counts of felony felon in possession of ammunition – crime of violence conviction; felony store methamphetamine paraphernalia in the presence of a child; gross misdemeanor child endangerment; gross misdemeanor give police officer false name of another person; and petty misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Leritz was charged with two counts of felony controlled substance crime first degree – 50 grams or more; two counts of felony felon in possession of firearm – crime of violence conviction; two counts of felony felon in possession of ammunition – crime of violence conviction; gross misdemeanor aiding and abetting giving peace officer false name of another person; and petty misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Court appearances on Chouinard and Leritz are pending. They both remain in the Aitkin County Jail.
