Info sought on burglary, possible 'suspect vehicle' - The Daily Progress

The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office is looking for any information the public might have related to a burglary that occurred in Stuarts Draft last weekend — and a silver Lincoln sedan that may have been involved in the crime.

Sheriff’s deputies responded on Sunday to a home in the 1000 block of Stuarts Draft Highway for a report of a burglary at the residence.

One or more suspects apparently gained entry through a window. Once inside, they took a jewelry box, a chainsaw and “other items,” before fleeing the scene, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

Surveillance footage from the area captured a “possible suspect vehicle,” the release said. The vehicle is described as a silver Lincoln automobile bearing a North Carolina license plate with the registration EFK-8840. It’s not clear if officials have tracked the registered owner of the vehicle or if the car was reported stolen.

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who might have seen this vehicle, or knows who was driving it on Sunday, to call Investigator Steven Cason with the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office at (540) 245-5333 or Central Shenandoah Crime Stoppers at 1-800-322-2017. Anyone with information about the burglary itself, or who might have been involved, also is asked to call one of the numbers above.
