TRENTON -- A city man charged with multiple shootings was sentenced to prison for one of his cases Friday.
Bayshawn Jennings, 22, had pleaded guilty to second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun in July. This charge stems from his involvement in a New Year's Day shooting.
He was sentenced to five years in prison under the Graves Act, and will be subject to three years of probation upon release.
Jennings was arrested in June 2016 on an attempted murder charge and given a $1 million bail. But he was later accidentally released from the county jail after the high bail was not properly recorded and he made bail on a lesser amount for a separate charge.
He was free when he committed the gun crime he was sentenced for Friday.
He's since pleaded guilty to aggravated assault charges in the June 2016 incident. His sentencing is still pending for those charges and is expected to run concurrent to Friday's sentencing.
