LYONS — A local man is facing a trio of charges, including one related to what police are calling a hate crime.
Adam J. Doucet, 32, was charged Dec. 17 by state police with second-degree burglary, fourth-degree criminal mischief, and second-degree aggravated harassment as a hate crime.
Doucet is accused of forcibly breaking into a town residence and directing racially motivated threats to the person inside.
The investigation was conducted in consultation with the state police Hate Crime Unit. It was created in response to an increase in reports of bias-related crimes.
Doucet was arraigned in Galen court and remanded to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. He was set to appear in Lyons court this afternoon.
