Crime Stoppers of Sangamon and Menard Counties this week is seeking information about reports of people spray painting graffiti on several building and vehicles in the Springfield area.
Police said the graffiti has been more prevalent in the past few weeks and Crime Stoppers hopes tips will help identify the culprit.
“Graffiti is an age old form of vandalism that debases the aesthetics of an area and contributes to a decline in any community in which it presents itself,” a release from Crime Stoppers said.
“It also creates a burden on individual victims and neighborhood residents who are forced to spend their time and money in cleanup efforts to erase the damage caused by those who engage in this criminal public nuisance.”
People with information on this or other crimes can submit tips anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 788-8427 or they can submit a tip online at www.cashfortips.us. Tips can also be sent by text. Type TIP672 plus a message and send to CRIMES. Informants are eligible for cash rewards of up to $2,500, in all crimes except homicides. Tips leading to arrest(s) in any homicide in Sangamon or Menard counties will pay up to $5,000.
