Candlelight vigil will highlight issues facing crime victims - Idaho Press-Tribune

Advocates Against Family Violence is hosting a candlelight vigil to honor crime victims and discuss victims' rights and resources.

The candlelight vigil will be held at 7 p.m. April 8 at the Treasure Valley Community College in Caldwell. It's in commemoration of National Crime Victims’ Week, April 8 to 15.

According to the most recent Bureau of Justice Statistics survey, victims experience more than 5 million violent crimes a year.

Events around the country during National Crime Victims’ Rights Week promote victims’ rights and honoring crime victims and those whose advocate on the behalf. This year’s theme — Expand the Circle: Reach All Victims — will highlight how communities can create opportunities for victims to connect with services and receive the support.

AAFV encourages widespread participation in the week’s events and in other victim-related observances throughout the year.
