Cardiologist Anthony Moschetto Charged In Failed Murder-For-Hire Plot

MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a Long Island heart doctor had another doctor's office torched, then hired undercover officers to have him hurt or killed.

They say the payments included guns and prescriptions. The Nassau County district attorney's office says investigators who went to his home in a wealthy neighborhood found a weapons cache in a secret room that was accessed through a motorized bookshelf.

Dr. Anthony J. Moschetto (muh-SHEH'-toh) of Sands Point, New York, was awaiting arraignment Wednesday on conspiracy and other charges. Information on his attorney was not immediately available.

Two other defendants are charged in the case.
