"The Cycle" co-host Ari Melber has been named MSNBC's chief legal correspondent, the network confirmed with The Huffington Post on Wednesday.
Melber -- who anchors the network's 3 p.m. hour, along with Krystal Ball, Abby Huntsman and Touré -- will continue his hosting duties while also providing legal policy and law enforcement reporting across all the network's platforms.
A graduate of Cornell Law School and a member of the New York Bar, Melber has long covered justice issues for MSNBC. During his time with the network, he's conducted a number of high-profile legal interviews and hosted a series dealing with racial inequity in the criminal justice system called "Presumed Guilty."
Melber will kick off his expanded role by airing a report on the FBI’s anti-cybercrime operations during Wednesday's edition of "The Cycle."
MSNBC's "Morning Joe," where Melber appeared Wednesday to share a preview of the report, congratulated the network's new chief legal correspondent on Twitter:
