The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.
Milledgeville Police Department
Theft by Taking
An officer met with the owner of Checkers on North Columbia Street shortly before 11 p.m. March 19 in reference to an employee stealing a bag of chicken. The owner said he had spoken to one of his employees about stealing food the week before after the owner of a nearby business saw the employee putting food from the outside cooler into a vehicle. After the employee put a large bag of chicken into the car of another employee who was giving him a ride home, saying he had gotten permission from the owner to do so, the owner asked the officer to press charges on the worker. The officer arrested the man and transported him to the Milledgeville Jail.
Burglary
An officer met with a woman at her South Irwin Street apartment shortly after 11 a.m. March 22 in reference to her residence being burglarized. The woman said she had been out the night before when she returned that morning to find her side door open and a metal pipe on her porch, and said that several watches, pieces of jewelry, and a Taser were missing. Although the officer found the Taser and several of the watches and pieces of jewelry, many more were found to still be missing. The officer advised the woman to consider buying some renter’s insurance; no suspects were named at the time of the report.
