North Shore District Attorney Warren Montgomery will host a reception to honor crime victims on April 4 at the parish courthouse in Covington. The 5 p.m. event will honor victims in St. Tammany and Washington parishes as part of National Crime Victims' Rights Week.
Crime victims in both parishes are invited.
The purpose of the reception is to honor survivors of crime and the service providers who support them in their fight for justice, the DA's office said in a news release. The event will be held on the second floor of the courthouse at 701 N. Columbia St.
Service providers will be on hand to discuss the programs they offer, the release said. Montgomery's staff also will provide an update on proposed state legislative changes to sentencing guidelines, including those for violent crimes.
