Mobile crime report: Customer foils armed robbery, shoots at fleeing suspect - AL.com

The Mobile Police Department made several drug arrests and are investigating two armed robberies over the weekend in their daily crime report released on Monday afternoon.

Police said on Friday (April 7) at approximately 8:00 p.m., officers responded to the 300 block of Seabreeze Road in reference to an assault. The female victim stated that she was assaulted by 31-year-old Henrietta Berry.

The victim was transported to the hospital for her injuries. Later, officers were able locate Berry in the 400 block of Sunnyvale Lane.

Berry was arrested and charged with second-degree assault.

Jesse Toomer 

Later that night at approximately 11:00 p.m., officers responded to the 3400 block of Demetropolis Road in reference to a suspicious circumstances complaint. Officers spoke with the complainant, who stated that she was kidnapped by 37-year-old Jesse Toomer of Pascagoula, Mississippi.

Officers spoke with Toomer and located illegal drugs in his possession. Toomer was arrested and taken to Mobile County Metro Jail.

He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal possession of prescription drugs.

On Saturday (April 8) at approximately 1:10 a.m., officers responded to a robbery at the Chevron Gas Station located at 399 Azalea Road. The victim stated that an unknown male armed with a handgun came inside of the store and demanded the money from the register.

A witness, who was armed, fired at the subject causing the subject to run out of the store.

The incident has been classified as first-degree robbery.

Later that morning at approximately 11:00 a.m. officers responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle with subjects being armed with handguns, in the 600 block of Donald Street.  

Officers located the vehicle in the area of Carleton Avenue and Luckie Avenue, and attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop. The subjects wrecked in the area of Wilson Avenue and Turner Road.

Officers apprehended Alex Williams, 18, and Nicholas Philon, 19. Officers received information that the vehicle had been reported stolen and also found marijuana.

Williams was charged with first-degree receiving stolen property and attempting to elude. Philon was charged with first-degree possession of marijuana and attempting to elude.

At approximately 12:15 p.m. officers responded to the 2600 block of St. Stephens Road in reference to a robbery. The victim stated that he exited his vehicle and was approached by the subject, who displayed two handguns and robbed him of his jewelry and money.

The suspect then fled the scene. The incident has been classified as first-degree robbery.

Kyle Dubose  

On Sunday (April 9) at approximately 10:00 a.m. officers of the  Mobile County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to the area of Wilmer Road and Moffett Road in reference to a suspicious vehicle.

Deputies received information that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Mobile. Kyle Dubose, 20, detained and later arrested.

Dubose was charged with first-degree receiving stolen property.

Later that evening at approximately 6:14 p.m., officers responded to the Stone Street Church located at 311 Tunstall Street in reference to a burglary. The victim stated that he observed an unknown subject inside of the church. Officers detained William Ward, 52.

Ward was later arrested and charged with third-degree burglary.

At approximately 11:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to area of Ann Street in reference to an assault. The victim stated that he was assaulted after a verbal altercation. The victim suffered minor stab wounds and was transported to the hospital.

Mobile police have not identified the suspect in the incident and classified it as second-degree domestic violence and second-degree assault.

On Monday (April 10) at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Adams Street and Gaston Street.  Officers received information that the vehicle had been reported stolen.

Demarcus James, 29, and Johnny Robinson, 61, were detained.

James was charged with first-degree receiving stolen property and Robinson was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
