HANFORD — Four people are now displaced after an apartment caught fire on Tuesday, causing about $50,000-worth of damages, firefighters said.

At around 11:15 a.m., Hanford Fire Department officials said crews were called out to an apartment at 313 E. Myrtle St.

On arrival, crews saw fire and smoke coming from an apartment on the second floor, firefighters said.

Officials said fire crews quickly began attacking the fire from the outside before transitioning to the inside of the apartment to extinguish the main area of fire.

Crews also searched the apartment for occupants, and officials said there were no civilian or firefighter injuries during the fire. Three adults and one child were displaced by the fire.

Damage to both the structure and the contents was confined to the involved apartment, with some extension into the attic space, firefighters said. The damages are estimated to be approximately $50,000.

In total, fire officials said 11 firefighters from the Hanford Fire Department and five firefighters from the Kings County Fire Department responded to the fire.

Officials said it took approximately 15 minutes to declare the fire under control, but crews were on the scene for approximately four hours to investigate the incident and make sure the fire was completely extinguished.

Officials said the cause of this fire is still under investigation.
