Jennifer Ullery Shot TV Set Because Kids Watched Too Much TV: Cops

An Illinois mother didn't like what her kids were watching on TV so she made her opinion known by allegedly firing a Ruger .22 long rifle at the 50-inch flatscreen.

As a result, Jennifer Ullery, 40, has been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm without a FOID card and three counts of endangering the health and safety of a child, ABC Chicago reports.

The alleged incident happened Jan. 20 in Ullery's home in Algonquin. She was in court on Monday and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The shooting happened when Ullery's three kids -- ages 15, 11, and 6 -- were watching a music video by the rock band Primus Deputy Police Chief Andrew Doles said the children – ages 15, 11, and 6 – were watching a music video by the rock bank Primus.

All of a sudden, Ullery entered the room and fired "multiple rounds" at the TV, Algonquin Deputy Andrew Doles told the Northwest Herald.

"Mom didn't say anything, she just walked into the room and started shooting the TV," Doles said.

No one was injured from the shooting.

The police were notified of the incident by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and visited the house on Feb. 9.

Officers noticed there had been no attempt to clean up the shards from the shattered TV screen and found a rifle, magazine and ammo, CBS Chicago reports.

Investigators said the suspect shot the TV because she was irritated by how time her kids spent watching the boob tube, according to WGN TV.

"A music video by Primus set Mom off and she opened fire," Doles told the Chicago Tribune.

Ullery was arrested and later released on bond. The kids were placed in the care of another relative, NBC Chicago reports.
