Minor Leaguer Allegedly Threw Rocks At Girlfriend Until She Was Unconscious

A Cincinnati Reds minor league prospect was arrested over the weekend for throwing rocks at his girlfriend and knocking her unconscious, according to police documents.

The player, Tanner Jeremy Rahier, allegedly "started throwing numerous rocks" at a woman after the pair left a restaurant, Glendale Police Department records stated.

The probable cause statement detailed that Rahier reportedly refused to pay a tab at the restaurant and argued with the bartender. He and the woman then went outside, where they began arguing outside and she eventually was hit with an eight-inch rock on the side of her head, fell to the ground and lost consciousness.

A spokesman for the Glendale Police Department said Rahier "fled on foot" after the incident and was taken into custody "a short distance later."

Rahier told officers that he did not know the woman and denied hitting her with rocks. According to the arrest record, Rahier was intoxicated at the time of the arrest. The woman, who said she and Rahier were dating for a month, was taken to the hospital where she received treatment and advised that she may need stitches.

Rahier was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in 2012 in the second round, according to the Arizona Republic, which added that the team did not comment on the incident.
