The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.

Milledgeville Police Department

Multiple Offenses

An officer was dispatched to the 2500 block of North Columbia Street shortly after 6:30 p.m. July 21 in reference to reports of a drunk driver. The officer made contact with the vehicle in question in front of the Milledgeville Mall and pulled the driver to the side of the road. Upon meeting with the driver in his vehicle, the officer noticed a “strong” odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle and learned that the driver’s license was suspended. After registering the driver at a .164 on a roadside alcohol-breath test, the officer arrested the driver for DUI, failure to maintain lane, a violation of Georgia’s open container law (an open bottle of wine was found in the back seat), and driving on a suspended license.

Entering Auto

An officer met with a woman in the police department lobby shortly before 5 p.m. July 22 in reference to a theft at the Oconee River Greenway earlier that day. The woman said she had parked her car at the Greenway somewhere around noon that day and had returned to find several items missing from her vehicle. Among the missing items were the woman’s purse containing $48 in cash and several credit cards, a bag containing several bottles of pills prescribed to her and her daughters, and a blue HTC cell phone. The officer did not find anyone who had witnessed the theft at the scene.
