Crime drop continues in Danbury - Danbury News Times

DANBURY - Crime in eight major categories dropped 46 percent in October, compared to the same month in 2016, according to unofficial records released by the police department.

The monthly drop in major crime from October 2016 to October 2017 follows a trend this year of decreasing crime in Danbury, which is consistently noted as one safest cities in the state.

For the first 10 months of 2017, crime was down 16 percent in eight categories: homicide, forcible rape, robbery, assault, burglary, theft, motor vehicle theft and arson.

The police department presented the monthly numbers and the year-to-date numbers to the City Council at its Dec. 5 meeting.

In October, there were a total of 73 major crimes, compared to total of 136 major crimes in October, 2016.
