CRIME REPORTS: Tuesday, March 6, 2018 - Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal

The following people were booked into the Lee County-Tupelo Adult Jail in connection with felony charges ending Monday at 11 a.m.

Donald Hendrix, 35, of Tupelo, was arrested by the Lee County Sheriff's Office, possession of methamphetamine.

Thomas Moody, 70, of Mooreville, was arrested by the Lee County Sheriff's Office, identity theft.

Matthew Baker, 40, of Moss Point, was arrested by the Mississippi Department of Corrections, violation of probation.

Travis Best, 27, of Saltillo, was arrested by the Lee County Sheriff's Office, possession of methamphetamine.

Alexander Davis, 27, of Baldwyn, was arrested by the Tupelo Police Department, possession of marijuana.

Mitchell Lindsey, 44, of Tupelo, was arrested by the Lee County Sheriff's Office, possession of methamphetamine.

Brett McCullom, 21, of Tupelo, was arrested by the Tupelo Police Department, possession of methamphetamine.

Ronald Yoe, 61, of Mooreville, was arrested by the Tupelo Police Department, driving under the influence - third offense, open container.

The following reports were filed Monday by the Lee County Sheriff's Office and the Tupelo Police Department.

Lee County Sheriff's Office

A Pine Grove Road Shannon woman was at the jail about to bond out her son when she got a text saying he needed a $300 MoneyPak card to bond out. She went and purchased the card and texted the information back to the person claiming to be her son. When she returned to the jail, she learned he only needed $100 to bond out.

A Saltillo Dollar General employee said a man entered the store, picked up two Ole Miss T-shirts and an Ole Miss tag cover. He walked around for a while with the items. When he left the store, there was nothing in his hands, but he appeared to be holding something under his jacket.

A County Road 599 Saltillo man said he and his adult son got into a verbal argument and the son threatened to kill the father.

A County Road 1310 Mooreville woman said she took a 2010 Ford Ranger to a repair shop in Mooreville in August to have the engine replaced. She said they still have not repaired the vehicle.

A Guntown man said his 1996 Nissan Pathfinder broke down so he left it parked under the carport at his cousin's County Road 821 Saltillo house. When he went to work on it, he found the rear passenger window was broken and someone had stolen his tools out of the SUV.

A Highway 371 Mooreville man said someone stole his 6x10-foot utility trailer from in front of his garage.

A County Road 2346 Guntown man said a blue Ford car pulled into his driveway. A young girl got out of the car, walked up to the house and stole a five-gallon can full of gasoline. The incident was recorded by his security system.

A County Road 1579 Richmond woman said her ex-boyfriend's grandmother came to her residence and started a verbal argument and tried to take her baby. The woman said the older woman used to babysit the child.

A County Road 931 Auburn woman said three men were yelling at each other and making threats across the street from her residence.

A Mountain Leader Trail Lake Piomingo woman said she let her 51-year-old former son-in-law borrow her car to go look for a job on March 1. When she got home from work the car was gone, and so were two shotguns, two rifles and a .38-caliber revolver. She tried to call the suspect, but he refuses to answer.

A Saltillo woman said the couple renting her Lake Piomingo house failed to pay rent and she made them leave. When she went to check on the house, windows were broken and the interior walls damaged.

A Marietta man said he was at a County Road 821 Saltillo house Saturday evening when he got into a verbal altercation with 51-year-old male suspect. The argument escalated and the suspect cut the man several times in the face and neck area.

Tupelo Police Department

A Linden Hill woman said she let her chihuahua out in the backyard to go to the bathroom when a neighbor's black lab attacked the small dog. She said the dog has a deep gash from shoulder to shoulder.

A Lumpkin Avenue woman said someone trespassed and vandalized their property. A fence was damaged and a decorative stone was moved from her flower bed and left in a neighbor's yard.

An Ashley Lane woman said someone stole her city-issued garbage can.

A woman said she parked her 2013 Dodge Charger outside a Traceland Drive business where men were on the roof working. A gust of wind lifted a ladder off the roof and it hit the hood and right front of the woman's car.

A West Main Walmart employee said two men were seen concealing multiple items and then leaving without paying for more than $370 in merchandise.

A West Main Walmart employee said a man walked out of the store without paying for two iPhone 8s worth a total of $1,130.

An employee at Car Max on Tom Watson Drive said a recent audit revealed that the business was missing three car dealer tags. She felt they were probably lost or misplaced, since they move them from car to car so often.

A West Jackson Street man said someone drove through his yard, possibly damaging the sewer system.

Around 8:20 p.m., Sam's employees reported a woman wearing an AC-DC T-shirt who refused to leave the business. She had been in the store for more than four hours and asked to leave several times. When police responded and told the woman she needed to leave, she got irate and started yelling at the officer. She was charged with disorderly conduct and carried to jail.

Police were called to a North Green Street convenience store for a parking lot accident. The driver said he was pulling into the parking lot and saw a large pot hole. He slammed on the brakes and swerved to avoid damaging his car. The swerve caused a plate of food to slide off his lap and into the floorboard. His foot then slipped off the brake and hit the accelerator, causing the car to lurch forward and hit the brick wall and glass front door of the store. The driver did not have a valid license or proof of insurance.

A woman said she was driving along I-22 when a sink fell off a trailer being pulled by a pickup. She was unable to avoid the sink and hit it. The truck driver stopped and gave her a business card, but said he was in a hurry and drove off.

A man said he bought a $300 xBox One from the West Main Walmart. He put the cart in the rack but left the box in the cart. When he realized his mistake and returned, the box was gone. Security cameras showed a man taking the box and leaving in a red SUV.

Employees at the Burger King at Crosstown said a man was causing a disturbance and cursing at customers. He ran when police arrived. After a short chase, he was caught trying to crawl under a car on King Street. When asked about the incident at the restaurant, he said "I was just drunk and being stupid." He was charged with public intoxication and hauled to jail.
